Hope Flows Where Jesus Meets the Thirsty
Sometimes, life leads us to quiet, hidden places just like the Samaritan woman who came to the well at noon, hoping no one would see her. That day, Jesus was waiting for her. He knew her story intimately, and He spoke not with judgment, but with compassion.
In John 4:1–42, we read how Jesus, tired from His journey, sat at Jacob’s well and engaged this woman in a life changing conversation. He asked for water, but in return, He offered her something far greater, “living water”: eternal life, spiritual renewal, and divine grace.
Overwhelmed with joy, the woman left her water jar behind and ran back to her village, proclaiming the good news: “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did!” (John 4:29). She had a story to tell and it changed lives!
Today, the story of the Samaritan woman at the well is not just a page in Scripture it is being lived out in Uganda. In many rural communities where water is scarce, women in many communities regularly walk to the town to draw water from public wells. These women would usually gather at the well and fellowship.

Led by Sister Annastazia, the ICM Uganda ministry team intentionally meets these women at the well, just as Jesus did. With gentle hearts and open hands, the team engages in conversations, listens to their struggles, and shares the message of hope found in Christ. Through simple yet powerful moments of offering a prayer, sharing a Bible verse, or lending a listening ear, many of these women experience God’s love in a personal way. Many of the women were touched by the gospel and love shown to them.

They came simply to draw water, but left with their hearts overflowing with something far greater. For many, these encounters have marked the beginning of a faith journey, bringing healing to their brokenness and restoring their identity in Christ.

What began as a practical necessity has become a powerful platform for ministry reminding us all that Jesus still meets people at the well, offering hope, healing, and a new beginning.
