Based on the previous report, Pastor Pooshani fulfilled her promise by delivering a bed to Mama Ana, despite having already provided her with a mattress. Recognizing the discomfort of an elderly woman sleeping on the ground amidst dampness and humidity, Pastor Pooshani’s act of kindness aimed to improve Mama Ana’s living conditions. Furthermore, understanding Mama Ana’s need to earn a livelihood, Pastor Pooshani encouraged her to start a small food business in front of her home in the village. By stocking up on food items and offering guidance, Mama Ana could generate income to sustain herself instead of enduring hunger.

Venturing into the market, Pastor Pooshani procured essential items such as cassava fish and groundnuts to kickstart the business. This initiative, focused on self-sustainability, echoed of teaching someone to fish rather than simply giving them a fish.

The impact of Pastor Pooshani’s actions extended beyond Mama Ana, as she visited other women in the village, providing them with new clothing and food supplies and treating them with dignity and respect.

This act of kindness serves as a reminder of the teachings found in Matthew 25:35-36 (NIV), emphasizing the significance of extending kindness and compassion to others, particularly to the marginalized and vulnerable members of society.

Matthew 25:35-36 (NIV) – “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”

In these verses, Jesus delineates specific acts of compassion that are not only pleasing to God but also reflective of a righteous life. These acts include feeding the hungry, welcoming strangers, clothing the naked, caring for the sick, and visiting those in prison. Ultimately, Jesus teaches that by demonstrating love and care towards others, especially those in dire circumstances, we honor and serve Him.
