Ochiba Community
Ochiba Community is a village on the coast of area, about 5km from Arua. The majority of its residents face economic challenges, living in conditions that can be described as extremely impoverished.
On a memorable evening we had the privilege of visiting some vulnerable members of the Ochiba community, particularly focusing on the mothers facing hardship. Among those we encountered was Mama Anna, who resides in a tiny, cramped space that serves as her bedroom, kitchen, and living area. Her financial struggles are evident, as she lacks even a basic mattress, resorting to sleeping on old rags covered with worn-out clothes for comfort and warmth.
Despite her challenging circumstances, Mama Anna greeted us with warmth and happiness when we arrived. In an effort to alleviate some of her hardships, we provided her with a mattress and a mosquito net. Her gratitude was palpable as she thanked the Lord for the unexpected gifts she had received. Recognizing the deplorable living conditions, members from the church decided to return the next day to clean and improve Mama Anna’s living space. Additionally, plans were made for Pastor Pooshani to receive a bed, ensuring she no longer had to endure sleeping on the floor.
Expressing her gratitude with a heartfelt sincerity, Mama Anna exclaimed, “Thank you thank You Lord. You love me so much ! How can I love You more !!”
Blessing in village of Ndriba
Our journey took us deep into the village of Ndriba, guided by the venerable women’s leader, Janet, who is 72 years old. We encountered another mama who has faced the debilitating effects of a stroke, affecting both her arms and feet, making movement a considerable challenge. She despite her physical limitations, currently sleeps on the bare ground without a mattress.
Touched by her difficult circumstances, we felt compelled to extend our support and bless her with a mattress. Our hope is that every action we take will serve as a testament to the boundless love of our Heavenly Father through His Son, Jesus, and the guiding presence of the Holy Spirit. May our efforts bring comfort and relief to those in need, reflecting the compassionate nature of our faith.
Village Trip
The following day, Ps Pooshani personally delivered a wooden bed to Mama Anna, ensuring she no longer had to sleep on the floor. Ps Pooshani is actively exploring opportunities to assist Mama Anna in generating income by considering the possibility of her selling basic food items in the vicinity of her home. Despite relying on a walking stick, Mama Anna appears to be in good health and is capable of mobility.
