Bible School in a Backpack (BSIB) Proof reading Initiative
Module 1, 2 & 3 Proofreading Team Report
As part of ICM’s ongoing mission to equip church leaders across Southeast Asia, the Bahasa translation of the Bible School in a Backpack (BSIB) Modules 1, 2, and 3 has entered a phase of proofreading and review. This process ensures that the translation accurately reflects the meaning of the original English version, with correct grammar, spelling, proper use of Bahasa, and the correct version of Bible verses used throughout the material.
At the heart of this vital initiative is a dedicated team of eight senior pastors, each bringing a wealth of ministry experience and a deep reverence for God’s Word. Led by Pastor Jabid Timbangan, and supported by Pastors Saunah, Betty, Raisinah, Molius, Janis, Peter, and Joylin, the team faithfully coordinated the proofreading process with excellence, unity, and a clear sense of purpose. Their collective commitment ensured that every detail was reviewed with care, laying a strong foundation for impactful and accurate discipleship materials.
These pastors are actively engaged in ministry and are trained ICM facilitators, with strong biblical foundations and years of service in church settings. They are well-equipped to connect sound theological understanding with practical application.
Their combined efforts reflect a shared commitment to strengthen discipleship and raise a new generation of leaders through well-prepared, accurate teaching materials.

Challenges Faced and Overcome
While the work was fruitful, it also came with several significant challenges:
1. Ensuring Consistency of Theological Terms
The team had to be especially attentive to language usage, certain theological terms, idioms, or sentence structures that are common and may not be confusing or misunderstood. This required discernment, discussion, and sometimes debate to ensure every word reflected clarity, biblical soundness, and regional understanding.
2. Mental Fatigue and Sleepless Nights
Proofreading theological content is no small task as it requires full concentration, careful attention to detail, and spiritual discernment. The team often worked late into the night, sacrificing rest and comfort to meet the project timeline. Despite physical tiredness and mental strain, taking short rest in between they persevered with a servant’s heart, ensuring that their labor will not go in vain.
3. Time Constraints Amid Ministry Commitments
Each team member continues to serve in their respective local churches, teaching, preaching, and shepherding their congregations. They willingly dedicated their time for this intense project which was a significant personal sacrifice and their shared burden to improve and finalize the language modules reflects a deep sense of responsibility to equip more leaders with solid biblical foundations.
A Labor of Love for Kingdom Impact
The selfless dedication of this team is truly inspiring spending many hours and days in this initiative. Their work behind the scenes may not be seen by many, but the fruit of their labor will reach hundreds, if not thousands of future pastors, church planters, and lay leaders. Each page reviewed, each word refined, contributes to building a stronger, more biblically rooted church across Southeast Asia.
We are deeply grateful and thank you so much to Ps. Jabid Timbangan and the entire proofreading team for their time, hard work, and spiritual insight. Their team effort is beyond measure and may their effort bear lasting fruit in the lives of all who are discipled through the BSIB modules in their native language.
To God be the glory!
