Floating Church in Sarawak
Visit to Ulu Rajang from October 21st to October 24th, 2023
ICM(M) Sarawak embarked on a journey to the remote region along the Rajang River. This mission encompassed three key areas:
- Bem Uma Baka Asap Koyan (October 21st-22nd, 2023)
- Bem Sang Anau (October 22nd, 2023)
- Bem Long Jawa (October 23rd, 2023)

Bem Uma Baka Asap Koyan (October 21st-22nd, 2023)
Our journey to Kampong Uma Baka, one of the 15 villages in the Asap Koyan resettlement scheme, was undertaken by car. This community hosts over 2,000 residents, with approximately 80% adhering to the Christian faith.
Bem Sang Anau (October 22nd, 2023)
To reach this area, we had to travel by boat, a journey that took roughly 3 hours and 30 minutes from Bakun Dam. Bem Sang Anau is home to more than 300 inhabitants. Our primary focus during this part of the mission was evangelism. We visited the Bukit Mambong area in Kampong Tunoh, reaching it via a pick-up vehicle on a timber company road. Remarkably, they have already shared the gospel with four out of eight longhouses. Praise the Lord for their efforts!
Bem Long Jawa (October 23rd, 2023)
Situated on the banks of the Rejang River, Bem Long Jawa is home to the only floating church in Sarawak, Malaysia. This leg of the journey required a five-hour boat ride from Bakun Dam to reach. While the village comprises around 40 families, the attendance that evening was only 17 individuals due to a lack of awareness about our program. Limited connectivity also hindered effective communication, resulting in a modest turnout.

Mission team, lead by Ps Tram, together we have Ps Mathew, Ps Robin Bato and Ps Naftaly.
In our mission, we endeavoured to make a positive impact in these remote areas and share the message of faith, hope, and love with the communities we visited.
