Strengthening Faith and Leadership – ICM and Borneo Evangelical Mission Forge Partnership
In a significant step towards enhancing spiritual growth and leadership development, a momentous Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed on June 18, 2024, between the International Christian Mission Malaysia (ICMM) and the Borneo Evangelical Mission (BEM). The signing ceremony, held at the BEM headquarters, marked a pivotal moment in the journey towards nurturing a more empowered and spiritually enriched community.
The ceremony commenced with a spirit of gratitude as attendees expressed thankfulness for the opportunity to embark on this collaborative endeavor. The President of BEM, Reverend Bina Agong, welcomed the delegation from ICMM and extended warm hospitality. Among those present were Reverend Tram Epoi, Pastor Jennifer Braok, and Elder Richard Ngau Jok, representing the vibrant spirit of unity and cooperation that underpins this partnership.
Key figures from ICM were also in attendance, including Pastor Edwin Marsden, President of ICM Malaysia, and Pastor Derwin Philip, ICM International Coordinator. Their presence underscored the global significance of this partnership and the shared vision of both organizations to advance Christian discipleship and leadership training.
The MOU signifies a commitment to foster discipleship and leadership training within the BEM community. With approximately 730 churches under its umbrella, BEM holds a significant presence in Sarawak. The agreement stipulates that all pastors within the BEM network will utilize ICM materials for their training and educational endeavors, ensuring a standardized and enriching curriculum across the board.
During the signing ceremony, key areas of discussion revolved around the core principles of discipleship and leadership development. Both parties recognized the importance of equipping pastors and church leaders with the necessary tools and knowledge to guide their congregations effectively. By investing in these foundational aspects of faith and leadership, the aim is to cultivate a stronger, more resilient community that is equipped to navigate the challenges of the modern world while staying true to their spiritual values.
In the coming days, Pastor Tram, along with his team, will embark on a journey across the 26 divisions of BEM, reporting directly to the central leadership and the International Christian Mission. This hands-on approach underscores the commitment to ensuring the successful implementation of the MOU and the effective delivery of training programs.
Furthermore, tomorrow marks another significant milestone as Pastor Tram, Pastor Jennifer, and Brother Richard will embark on a trip to Brunei to promote the initiatives outlined in the MOU. This outreach effort signifies a broader commitment to extending the benefits of this partnership beyond geographical boundaries, fostering collaboration and mutual support within the wider Christian community.
As the signing ceremony concluded, there was a palpable sense of optimism and anticipation for the journey ahead. The partnership between ICM and BEM represents a beacon of hope, illuminating the path towards a future where faith is strengthened, and leadership is nurtured. Together, they stand poised to make a profound impact, shaping the spiritual landscape and empowering believers to embrace their calling with renewed vigor and purpose.
