ICM Sri Lanka Mission Trip
ICM Sri Lanka Mission Trip Report (17th – 28st May 2024)
From the 17th to the 28st of May 2024, a dedicated team from ICM Malaysia visited Sri Lanka to further the ministry’s work. The team, consisting of Ps. Edwin and Ps. Derwin from Malaysia, accompany by Ps. Suhin from ICM Southern India and Ps Dayan Daniel of ICM Sri Lanka, embarked on a mission for discipleship, introduce the ICM ministries and the BSIB program. Their journey was filled with enriching experiences, encouraging interactions, and a palpable sense of spiritual growth among the participants.

The team arrived at Katunayake Airport in Colombo on the 17th of May 2024 and immediately began their journey towards Nuwara Eliya, a highland area approximately a six-hour drive away. Despite the long journey and the cold, rainy weather typical of the mountainous region, the team was undeterred. Their first stop was in Orugodawatta, where they engaged in fellowship, sharing the gospel and praying with the local community. This initial outreach set the tone for the days to come, filled with meaningful connections and spiritual engagements.
As they traveled towards Nuwara Eliya, the team visited several locations including Kaduwela, Avissawela, Karawanella, Yatiyanthota, Kithulgala, and Ginigathhena. They also made a significant stop at an ICM Centre in Watawala, hosted by Pastor Renison. Each visit was an opportunity to witness the faith and dedication of the local communities. The journey continued through Hatton, Kotagala, Thalawakele, Lindulla, Nanuoya, and finally to Nuwara Eliya, marking a day of extensive travel and impactful ministry.
On the 18th of May, the team conducted an ICM Introduction Meeting at Hossanna Garden Church in Nuwara Eliya. The objective of this meeting was to introduce the ICM ministries and the BSIB program to the local pastors and leaders. Approximately 30 pastors and leaders attended, making it a significant gathering to share the vision and mission of ICM. This meeting was pivotal in establishing connections and reinforcing the support system for local churches.
The 19th of May saw the team splitting up to preach at three different locations. Ps. Suhin, along with Pastor Deborah, preached at Hossanna Garden Church in Nuwara Eliya. Ps. Derwin, together with Pastor Sasikumar, delivered his sermon at the New Testament Church of God in Palmaston. Ps. Edwin, alongside Pastor Somasundaram, preached at God’s Kingdom Church in Dessford. The response to their sermons was overwhelmingly positive, with many participants experiencing a significant increase in faith and a deeper desire to love God. The turnouts were encouraging, and the messages shared by the pastors resonated deeply with the attendees.
On the 20th of May, the team visited the Bible School at Shalom Evangelical Church in Kandy, hosted by Pastor K. Devadayalan. This visit was an opportunity to engage with the school’s activities and understand the impact of ICM’s educational programs. It was a day of learning and sharing, highlighting the importance of education in the ministry’s mission.
The mission continued on the 21st of May with a special meeting at Thalawakele Golgotha Prayer House, led by Pastor Pragashyoag. Additionally, the team attended a fellowship at Margaya with Pastor Bernard. These meetings were characterized by heartfelt interactions and a shared commitment to spiritual growth and community support.
On May 25th, another meeting was conducted by Ps Edwin along with Pastor Suhin in Jafna, attended by approximately 20 people. The purpose was to understand the ministry of ICM. It was a fruitful meeting, and everyone expressed a desire to serve God more.
We had another meeting in Colombo, where we shared information about ICM Ministries with the pastors and church leaders. We believe that by emphasizing the Great Commission of discipleship, we will inspire their love for God and encourage them to carry out God’s call.
Reflecting on the trip, it was evident that the mission was a significant success. Despite the challenging weather and cold conditions in the highlands, the local communities, particularly the tea pickers, displayed unwavering faith and dedication to worship. The team was inspired by powerful testimonies of how the ICM programs have been a tremendous blessing. One particularly moving account was of a pastor who broadcasts teachings to over 2,000 villagers using loudspeakers, impacting even auto drivers who stop to listen. This mission trip highlighted the faithfulness of the people in Sri Lanka and the impactful work of ICM in the region.
The future plans for ICM in Sri Lanka include continued support and further visits to encourage and equip local pastors and communities. The mission underscored the importance of ongoing engagement and the profound impact of ICM’s work. To God be the glory for the success and blessings of this mission trip.
