Hearts for Myanmar: ICM & Partners Respond to Myanmar Earthquake Devastation

Home / News / General / Hearts for Myanmar: ICM & Partners Respond to Myanmar Earthquake Devastation

In the aftermath of the powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar on 28 March 2025, communities across the Sagaing Region including Mandalay, Sagaing, and Shan State have been deeply affected. In areas like Sein Pan Ward in Mandalay, fire erupted destroying approximately 400 houses. The destruction has been severe, leaving countless families without shelter, food, or essential supplies, and struggling to rebuild their lives amidst the devastation.

In response to this crisis, International Christian Mission (ICM) has mobilized its efforts through Pastor John, our dedicated coordinator in Myanmar. Pastor John and his team together with the local churches have stepped in to bring both physical aid and spiritual hope to the victims. Relief efforts included distributing essential supplies to over 100 families, ministering to the hurting, and working alongside churches to serve most of the affected communities.

Our hearts go out to the people of Myanmar during this challenging time. Through the generosity of ICM donors and partners, we have been able to send critical funds to support relief efforts in Mandalay, Sagaing, and beyond.

ICM remains committed to standing alongside communities in Myanmar, rallying support to rebuild lives and restore hope in the midst of adversity. As Pastor John continues his journey to assess and address the ongoing needs, prayers are requested for the safety and well-being of everyone affected.

We had the privilege of supporting 163 families by providing essential supplies, including rice, oil, beans, and canopies. When they shared that they lacked the basic cooking utensils, ICM responded by supplying them with the needed items. When Pastor John and his team distributed the provisions and utensils, their faces reflected deep joy and heartfelt gratitude. This simple yet meaningful act of kindness became a powerful expression of Christ’s love in action.

Our next phase of relief is to help rebuild shelter by constructing bamboo huts for families who have lost their homes. These structures will provide a sense of stability and safety as they begin to recover and rebuild their lives. We had the privilege of helping build this home for the family, providing them with a safe and stable place to begin rebuilding their lives.

Thank you to our partners for faithfully standing in the gap through your prayers, generosity, and unwavering support for the people of Myanmar. Your partnership has made it possible for ICM teams on the ground to reach out with compassion, bringing both physical aid and the life-transforming message of the Gospel to those who are suffering and in need.

Amid devastation and hardship, the love of Jesus is breaking through. Many are hearing the Good News for the first time, and others are experiencing His healing, hope, and peace in powerful ways. The seeds of faith are being planted and nurtured.

Please continue to pray for the ongoing ministry in Myanmar. Pray that even in the midst of turmoil, hearts will be softened, lives will be changed, and many will come into the saving knowledge and a lasting relationship with Jesus Christ. Together, we are shining His light in the darkest places.
